Summer 2026

Summer Intern Supervisor

· June through mid-August

· Lead an intern with projects and lab results

· Lead students and gain teaching and management experience

· Applicants will be their first 1-2 years of undergraduate biology major

· Model how scientists think and work

HOW IT WORKS:

· internships are structured with learning objectives set by mentor & student and overseen by the student's Work Experience instructor at SRJC

· Interns must be recommendation from a bio or chem iinstructor

· mentors are given a spreadsheet of information about the prospective interns, includingstatement of interest, summer availability, potential availability  for next academic year , and willingness to work with laboratory animals

· mentors choose which students they would like to interview (ideally in April), then matches are made by both student and mentor rankings

· internships are structured with learning objectives set by mentor & student and overseen by the student's Work Experience instructor at SRJC

Students always learn so much from this experience and it is an

extremely valuable part of their career development.

Contribute to training the next generation of scientists
