Botany is the branch of Biology that focuses on the study of plants. The department offers two semester-long Botany courses: a general education course in Botany that students can take to pursue an interest in plants or to satisfy the GE requirement for a Biology lab course (BOTANY 10), and a field Botany course (BOTANY 60). Several short Botany courses cover specialized topics such as redwoods, the plants of Sonoma County, or the plants of the Sierras. These courses include field trips to observe plants in their native habitat.
